An indoor football tournament is to be held next month in memory of David Furness, a former member of staff at Caerphilly Leisure Centre.

The Dave Furness Memorial Cup has been organised by Sport Caerphilly CB in partnership with Gwent Police and Caerphilly and St Cenydd Leisure Centres.

The six-a-side tournament will run during the second and third weeks of December with the play -offs at St Cenydd Leisure Centre on the weekend of the 12 and 13 from 10am to 1pm.

The final is due to played at Caerphilly Leisure Centre on Saturday December 19 at 9.30am.

The tournament is open to youngsters aged between 15 and 18. Entry is £1 per person. Each team must consist of a minimum of seven and maximum of 10 players.

The deadline for entering the competition is Friday December 4.

Mr Furness, 34, of Thomas Street, Abertridwr, who was known as Hovis, was killed in a smash on the A40 trunk road in Tafarn Newydd, Llandovery.

Mr Furness was sadly pronounced dead at the scene of the accident on October 3 this year after his yellow Honda Fireblade motorbike was in a collision with a Ford Focus.
