A Welsh cancer charity will receive a cash injection of more than £3,000 – thanks to a weekend of events organised by the Caerphilly Business Forum.

Proceeds from the Caerphilly Business Forum’s annual awards ceremony and the forum’s sell-out fashion and beauty event, All About Eve, raised a combined £3,500 for Cancer Research Wales.

Held at The Bryn Meadows Golf, Hotel and Spa, the two events raised money for the charity by holding an auction at the awards ceremony and by donating all proceeds from ticket sales at the fashion and beauty event.

Caerphilly Business Forum events officer Jo Braham said the events had once again been a huge success, made all the more worthwhile by the amount raised for Cancer Research Wales, the Mayor of Caerphilly County Borough’s nominated charity for the year.

She said: “The weekend’s events were a great success and were once again the highlight for businesses in the county borough.

“We are very happy to donate the proceeds from the weekend to the Mayor’s charity.

“Cancer Research Wales has for a long time been very active within the area for their work researching the disease and treatments for it and has recently opened a shop in Caerphilly town centre, making its presence in the area greater than ever.”

Liz Andrews, deputy director of fundraising at Cancer Research Wales said: “We were delighted to be the chosen charity for this year’s Caerphilly Business Forum Awards and the All about Eve event.

“We’ve always had fantastic support from people in the area, which is why we chose to open a flagship shop in the town centre this year. All the money raised stays in Wales to help fund vital and pioneering research into potentially lifesaving treatments.”
