Planning application submitted for Oakdale wind turbines

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 12:55, Friday July 29th, 2011.

A planning application to build two wind turbines at Oakdale Business Park has been submitted.

Renewable energy developer Partnerships for Renewables (PfR) is behind the project to build the generators on land owned by Caerphilly County Borough Council.
.
Jerry Sturman, Regional Manager at PfR, said: “We have now completed all the environmental and technical studies on the site, which have confirmed our belief that the area is suitable for wind energy development.

“We believe the land is suitable for two turbines which could generate around 11 gigawatt hours (GWh) of green electricity every year – enough to power 2,400 homes.

“As part of our on-going consultation programme we will be holding another public exhibition now that we have submitted our plans.”

PfR is also looking into the possibility of feeding generated electricity directly into business on the business park.

An exhibition on the scheme to give people the chance to view the planning application will be held on Friday, August 5 at Oakdale Community Centre, Penrhiw Avenue, Oakdale, Blackwood Gwent, NP12 0NH from 3pm to 6.30pm.
