Three parks in Caerphilly County Borough have been given Green Flag status to mark their quality.

Morgan Jones Park in Caerphilly, Waunfawr Park in Crosskeys and Nelson Wern Park have all received the Green Flag Award.

Councillor Allan Pritchard, leader of Caerphilly County Borough Council, said: “We are delighted that our parks and green spaces have once again been recognised as places of excellence by the Green Flag assessors.

“A lot of effort is made to ensure a high levels of standard is maintained in all our parks and we are very proud of the facilities on offer for our local residents. I’d like to congratulate all concerned for this impressive achievement.”

Environmental improvements at the community-run Roger Lewis Woodland Garden in Oakdale have also been recognised with a Green Pennant award – part of the Green Flag Award scheme.

St Catherine’s Church Garden, in Crosskeys, and the Taraggan Community Allotment in Bargoed were also given Green Pennants.
