News | Richard Gurner | Published: 08:00, Thursday August 18th, 2011.

Gwent Police is appealing for witnesses after a stolen car hit a lamppost in Bargoed.

The accident happened at 12.30am on Thursday August 4.

The car was a silver Ford Fiesta which collided with a lamppost at the junction of Park View and Park Drive.

Police believe there were two men travelling in the vehicle. One suffered serious injuries to his hip and was taken to Prince Charles Hospital for treatment, while the other sustained minor injuries.

Both men, aged 20 and 21and from the local area, were arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and aggravated taking a vehicle without the owners consent.

They have since been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Officers continue to investigate the incident and would like anyone with information, or any witnesses of the collision who they haven’t spoken to already to contact them.

They are particularly interested in speaking to a woman in her 20s who, along with another man, assisted one of the injured occupants after the collision. She had brown shoulder length hair and was wearing pyjamas.
