Houses in Bargoed are being covered in eggs by drunken youths.

Police in the town have reported a sharp rise in the number of houses being ‘egged’ throughout the Bargoed area and have stepped up patrols to deal with antisocial behaviour.

Over a number of weekends, Caerphilly County Borough Council’s team of Community Safety Wardens and the Bargoed Neighbourhood Policing Team have been focussing on underage drinking and the ensuing antisocial behaviour.

In one particular night, officers managed to confiscate 50 bottles of alcohol.

Cllr Rob Gough, cabinet member for public protection said: “This high-visibility work being undertaken in the area is helping to make the Caerphilly county borough an even more pleasant and safe place to live.

“We hope that by pooling our resources and knowledge with that of our partners, we are taking significant steps towards ensuring that a small minority of people will not get away with affecting the quality of life of the majority.”

Sergeant Val Childs, of the Bargoed Neighbourhood Team, said: “We are continuing to target antisocial behaviour in the Bargoed area in order to further improve the quality of life for local residents.

“We will continue our proactive patrols, particularly concentrating on areas that residents have highlighted are of most concern to them.”

  • The next PACT meeting for the Bargoed Neighbourhood Policing Team will be held in the Gilfach ward on Monday June 6 at Gilfach Scout and Guide Hall at 6pm.
