Caerphilly and Bedwas firms shortlisted for Canmol Wales Marketing Awards

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 17:00, Thursday September 8th, 2011.

DS Smith Recycling, based on the Pantglas Industrial Estate, Bedwas, and building products firm Catnic, based on the Pontypandy Industrial Estate, Caerphilly, have been shortlisted for a marketing award.

The two firms’ marketing efforts have been recognised in nominations for 2011’s Canmol: Wales Marketing Awards, which takes place in Cardiff on October 6.

They will be competing against another 13 companies in the Canmol: Wales Marketing Awards, organised by the Chartered Institute of Marketing.

Five final winners, as well as an individual awards for a new marketer and outstanding contribution to the marketing industry, will be announced at the awards ceremony at Cardiff’s Radisson Blu.

The Canmol awards, which means to praise in Welsh, were created in 2008 to promote excellence in the marketing industry in Wales.

Jonathan Deacon, Chair Judge, said: “It’s encouraging to see so many SMEs shortlisted this year, demonstrating that it is possible to produce a successful marketing campaign on a tight budget when the campaign is innovative and creative.

“As ever, shortlisting the entries was a difficult task, showing the wealth of talent within the industry in Wales, but 15 organisations and businesses stood out in particular through highlighting strategic thinking and achieving excellent results.”

Catnic won a Canmol in 2009. DS Smith Recycling was nominated in the 2010 awards under its previous name of Severnside Recycling.
