Emma Jones, 24, was found collapsed in her flat in Abu Dhabi.

A 24-year-old Caerphilly teacher working in Abu Dhabi died after mistakenly drinking cleaning fluid.

The Cardiff inquest into the death of Emma Jones was told the teacher had her clothes and passport ready to return home after she became involved in a row with an ex-boyfriend.

Her mother Louise Rowlands told the hearing that her daughter was worried she could be jailed after claiming ex-boyfriend Jamie Brayley put naked pictures of her on Facebook.

Mr Brayley denied the claims.

Ms Jones, an ex-Bedwas High pupil, moved to Abu Dhabi after graduating in sociology. She taught at the International School of Choueifat in Khalifa between 2008 and her death in November last year.

A post-mortem carried out at Llandough Hospital revealed that Ms Jones died after drinking a corrosive substance.

Deputy assistant coroner Thomas Atherton said he did not believe Mr Brayley could be blamed for Ms Jones’ death and recorded an open verdict.
