Volunteers are being sought to help provide free and confidential advice and support to victims and witnesses of crime and antisocial behaviour and their families in Caerphilly County Borough.
Working alongside Victim Support, the support provided by volunteers is vital in helping victims and witnesses of crime and antisocial behaviour to move forward after their experiences.
Victims Champion for Caerphilly county borough, Lana Harrison said: “We are currently looking for dedicated volunteers who are interested in making a real positive difference to the lives of others.
“I would encourage anyone who has a few hours to spare and would like to help us provide important advice and support to victims of crime and anti-social behaviour to get in touch.”
Volunteers for the service:
- Provide emotional support, practical help and information to those affected by crime or antisocial behaviour.
- Liaise with and take referrals from a number of sources.
- Liaise with local Neighbourhood Policing Teams, and other organisations and agencies such as the Safer Caerphilly Community Safety Partnership, Youth Offending Service, Probation Trust, and various local authority departments including Social Services and Education.
- Attend relevant meetings and forums with a multi-agency approach.
- Attend regular supervision and support meetings with a Volunteer Manager.
- Attend Victim Support training and presentation evenings.
To become a volunteer, you do not need any particular qualifications or previous experience in this kind of work. All you need is a willingness to learn and help and a little time.
