More than 50 people turned out for the ‘New Age Kurling’ competition, hosted by the Trinant and Pantside Communities First Partnerships.
The ‘Time4Us’ group is made up of residents of Trinant and Pantside, and meets on the first Friday of each month to socialise and have fun.
The group has recently taken up New Age Kurling – an indoor version of the Olympic sport.
Cllr Colin Hobbs, cabinet member and champion for older people said: “This is a great example of how when people work together, great things can happen. The Mid Valleys East Communities First team, Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Sports Development team and the 50+ Positive Action Partnership joined forces, and as a result, people had a great time and new friendships have been made in a fun and welcoming setting.”
The visiting team from Hollybush were crowned the winners and were presented with their trophy by Cllr Colin Hobbs. The winners have now extended an invitation to the Trinant and Pantside team for a return match.
