Police in Bargoed are reminding residents to check the security of their homes, sheds and garages after a spate of ten break-ins and attempted break-ins in the last week.

Lisa Humphries, PSCO for the Gilfach Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “We ask residents to remain vigilant and check the security that they have in place on their homes, sheds and garages. The items stolen range from drills, to a hand bag, televisions and a quad bike.

“We want to make sure that residents are taking adequate security steps before they store expensive equipment in their shed or garage and that they are making sure their homes are securely locked to prevent opportunist thieves from breaking in.

“Every home attempted to be broken in to or which has been broken in to has had double patio doors or PVC doors. We are reminding residents to lock doors even if you are at home. Anyone who witnesses any suspicious activity in their neighbourhood should report it to Gwent Police as soon as possible.”

If you have any information on the burglaries, then please contact Gwent Police on 101 or the Bargoed Neighbourhood Policing Team on 02920 857 455
