Caerphilly MP Wayne David has helped raise more than £2,000 in aid of the Haiti earthquake appeal by completing a sponsored walk from Bargoed to Machen.

The 15 mile walk was led by Mr David and Mr Geraint Evans, a practised walker and the conductor of the Aber Valley Male Voice Choir.

After completing the walk last Sunday Mr David said: “We were lucky with the weather and although 15 miles is quite a long walk for inexperienced walkers like myself, we all successfully completed the walk.

“Everyone was in good spirits and we were delighted that so much money has been raised to help the people of Haiti.”

A concert, again to raise funds for the people of Haiti, is being held on Friday March 5 at 7.30pm at St Helen’s Roman Catholic Church, Nantgarw Road, Caerphilly.

Tickets at £6 each are available from Mr David’s Office at BTM Community Council Offices, CF83 8YB or by calling 029 2088 1061.
