£2m funding for Caerphilly town medical centre approved

The Welsh Assembly Government has approved funding for a new £2m medical centre to replace two surgeries in Caerphilly town.

The new state-of-the-art centre will replace Nantgarw Road and Trecenydd surgeries and will be built in Beddau Way, Castle View.

Called ‘The Nantgarw Road Medical Centre’, it will include a chemist on site and have 37 patient car parking spaces.

Dr Michael Griffiths from the Nantgarw Road Practice said: “We are pleased that, after long delays, funding and planning for the new premises has finally been secured. Work is due to begin on the site this month, with completion expected early in January 2012.

“The extra space means that we will be better able to work together as one team, offering a wider range of medical services and linking more smoothly with other health agencies.”

The surgery will serve 7,100 patients and is part of a five doctor practice.

Thanks for including the information on our new surgery.

The name will be 'The Nantgarw Road Medical Centre'

    and not 'practice'
