£7.4million transport cash for Bargoed and Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 14:00, Thursday March 4th, 2010.

Two major projects in Caerphilly County Borough have been boosted by £7.4 million from the Welsh Assembly Government.

More than £5 million will be spent on highway improvements around the new Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr hospital in Ystrad Mynach, while the Greater Bargoed Community Regeneration programme will receive nearly £2.4 million.

Caerphilly’s Labour AM Jeff Cuthbert welcomed the National Transport Grant cash.

He said: “These grants will ensure essential work at Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr and around Bargoed will be completed and are a real boost to the local economy.

“These grants are another example of how the Labour-led Welsh Assembly Government is working in partnership with local government and others to improve local infrastructure and public transport.

“This partnership approach is the way forward, for our efforts to create a brighter future for the whole of Wales.

“Once again, Welsh Labour is delivering for the people of Caerphilly.”
