A social worker is hoping to raise cash for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust by completing an 18-mile trek up Hadrian’s Wall in North Cumbria.

Zoe Phillips, a 21-year-old from Nelson, wants to raise in excess of £500 for the charity because of the help it offers to her husband.

She said: “My husband Jonathan is 26 and was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis at the age of 17.

“When we met I had no clue what it was or how to deal with it, or how it would affect his life but the Cystic Fibrosis Trust helped me with information, constant support.

“As there is only one ward in Wales with nine beds for Cystic Fibrosis patients, in LLandough Hospital, the need for support is huge and the trust offer it 24/7.

“When my husband and I got engaged we wanted to move in together as any couple would but due to finances we could not afford it.

“The trust helped us to get a grant to get all the basic things that we would need to move and we are very grateful.”

The family resource worker for Children in Action, in Energlyn, Caerphilly, will be completing her challenge between June 11 and June 13 this year.
