Young people from across south Wales will have the chance to air their views next week when Coleg Gwent hosts the Welsh final of the BBC’s Schools Question Time.
Key political players will answer questions from a 60 strong audience of young people in a format that will mirror the BBC’s Question Time.
Chaired by the Western Mail’s Martin Shipton and including representatives from the Conservative Party, Plaid Cymru and members of the Coleg Gwent debating team, the panel will debate issues raised by the young audience.
Pupils from several local schools, including Abertillery Comprehensive School, will join a group of Coleg Gwent students in the audience.
Alex Morgan, 18, from Blackwood, is looking forward to being part of the panel.
He said: “I am quite nervous about the questions we’ll be asked but it’s a great opportunity to be part of such a large scale event and I’m proud I’ll be representing the College as well.”
The event is the Welsh final in the UK-wide BBC’s Schools Question Time competition with other events taking place across the UK.
The College is in with a chance of being able to send two students to help produce an edition of Question Time in the summer.
