Man admits rape of Llanbradach girl, 11

A paedophile has been told to expect a lengthy prison sentence after he admitted raping an 11-year-old girl.

Joseph Rees, 19, of Llantwit Fardre, Pontypridd, attacked the girl in Llanbradach Park, near the library, on Monday January 4.

The girl, who was off school through an inset day, was grabbed into some woods as she walked home.

Cardiff Crown Court was told it was an opportunist daylight attack and that Rees did not know the girl.

Recorder of Cardiff Nicholas Cooke said: “This is so serious, a prison sentence is inevitable.
“I will have to determine whether an indefinite sentence is appropriate after your dangerousness has been assessed.”

Rees pleaded guilty to rape of a girl under 13 and was ordered to sign the sex offenders’ register.

He is due to be sentenced next month.
