Work is underway on a new medical super-surgery for Caerphilly.
A “cutting the first sod” ceremony was held at the Nantgarw Road site as GPs were joined by local dignitaries to mark the start of the project.
The new surgery, which is expected to be completed by January 2012, will replace the existing GP practices in Nantgarw Road and Trecenydd.
AM Jeff Cuthbert, who led the ceremony, said: “This is the type of GP practice we want to see across Wales. That’s going to be hard of course because of cuts in our capital programme. Nevertheless, we are doing what we can to replicate this across other parts of the constituency and Wales.”
