The 20-strong syndicate from Ystrad Mynach Non-Political Club scooped £91,820 on the Lotto

A syndicate of members of a Valleys non-political club are celebrating a Lotto windfall of £91,820, after matching five numbers and the bonus ball in last Saturday’s draw.

The 20-strong syndicate, ranging in age from 40 to 70-years-old, are members of Ystrad Mynach Non-Political Club.

The syndicate has been playing 20 lines on The National Lottery every Saturday since 1995 and they picked one random line each at the start.

Syndicate leader, Graham Williams, 70, a retired factory worker, said he would be using his share of the money for his first trip to America this autumn.

He said: “I’m off to Orlando with my wife Vera and two of our grandchildren age 10 and 16. We’re going to Disneyworld and all the major attractions, so this money will come in handy. It’s great to have a lump sum like this, especially as we are pensioners.

“I’ll also give some money to my two children.”

Graham was watching the Saturday night National Lottery draw on TV, when he realised the syndicate had matched the winning numbers.

He said “I thought we had matched five numbers, but when I phoned another syndicate member, he pointed out we had the bonus ball too.

“It was great to tell everyone the good news. I think most of the syndicate will use the money for holidays and we’re going to have a few drinks to celebrate at the club too.”

The syndicate’s winning ticket was bought from Hengoed Post Office. The winning numbers on Saturday June 26 were 18, 26, 33, 35, 37, 47 and the bonus ball was 3. This Friday’s Euromillions jackpot is an estimated £12 million.

With the refusal of the council to allow the extension of the Tesco supermarket they are protecting the local traders in the village and without concideration of the people who have views in Pengam rd. Not knowing what it is like for noise, [loading and unloading] to have the remaining view taken away as well adds insult to injury.Well done ! These rarge Supermarkets are in it for sheer profit, we know that, but there is a line to be drawn.
