Rugby star opens Caerphilly school’s new gym

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 12:36, Friday April 1st, 2011.

Newport Gwent Dragons captain Tom Willis has opened a Caerphilly school’s new gym.

The rugby star joined Caerphilly mayor James Fussell for the official opening of the fitness suite at St Martin’s Comprehensive School following a £4,500 refit.

The money, funded by the Welsh Assembly Government, has been used to buy new equipment, mirrors and improved flooring. It has been backed by investment from the school’s PE department.

Coun Fussell said: “Pupils at the school are extremely lucky to have these state-of-the-art fitness facilities and I’m sure they will be well used by the whole school community.”

Wales netball captain Suzi Drane and Celtic Dragons netball player Lottysha Cato also joined the opened celebrations.
