A nursery which had its bikes, scooters and flags stolen during a summer break-in, has received a £500 donation from a local firm.

Family bakery Brace’s, based in Crumlin, has replaced the play equipment stolen from Tiptoes day nursery on Pontllanfraith’s Gelligroes Road.

Brace’s offered to donate £500 to replace the equipment and the nursery took delivery of their new toys last week.

Tiptoes owner Ceri Jenkins said: “We were absolutely gutted to lose so much of our equipment and the children were devastated. It’s awful for someone to steal from children like that. This has been such a nice gesture from Brace’s.”

Scott Richardson, Brace’s sales and marketing director, said: “We really felt for the children at the nursery and the staff, who work hard on funding equipment.

“Because of replacing the equipment like for like, there was a slight delay on delivery of some of the toys ordered like the rickshaw, but the children seem to think it was worth the wait.”
