River of Light Parades in Blackwood and Caerphilly for 2011

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 11:09, Thursday December 1st, 2011.

People of all ages are set to take part in this year's River of Light Parades

Festive lantern parades will be taking place in Caerphilly and Blackwood during Christmas 2011.

Spectacular lanterns will be paraded through the streets, as families, community groups and organisations turn out in force to take part in these fun and entertaining festive events.

Caerphilly’s free lantern-making workshops for children of all ages will be taking place on December 3 and 4, December 10 and 11 and December 17 and 18 at Caerphilly Leisure Centre between 10am and 5pm. This year’s theme is magic and wizardry.

On December 22, Caerphilly town centre will light up as hundreds take their place in the parade.

The procession leaves Caerphilly Railway Station Park and Ride at 6.30pm and is followed by a fireworks display at Caerphilly Castle.

Blacwood will be holding its lantern parade on Thursday December 8, leaving Blackwood Market Square at 6.30pm.
