Police appeal after sex attack on Penyrheol woman, 26

UPDATE: Gwent Police drop investigation into alleged sex attack in Penyrheol

Gwent Police has stepped up patrols in the Penyrheol area following a serious sexual assault.

The force is appealing for people to come forward with any information they may have about Thursday night’s attack.

The serious sexual assault occurred in the Pen y Bryn area of Penyrheol August 5.

At approximately 9.45pm the victim, a 26-year-old local woman, was walking from Pen y Bryn in the direction of Heol Fawr.

Once she had reached the lane which runs from Pen y Bryn to the electricity sub-station at the rear of the housing estate she was approached by a man and assaulted.

The victim is currently being supported by specialist officers while forensic enquiries are carried out at the scene.
