The spirit of a traditional Christmas was felt at the Mayor’s annual Christmas Carol Service, held last week at the historic Llancaiach Fawr Manor House in Nelson.
The service was led by the Reverend Roy Jenkins and was attended by the High Sheriff of Gwent, Lady Hayman-Joyce.
Those who attended were entertained by schools from throughout the county borough – Llanfabon Infants, Llancaeach Juniors and Lewis Girls School Choir each sang a medley of Christmas songs. Bedwas High School brass ensemble accompanied the carols and entertained guests before and after the service.
Caerphily County Borough Mayor Vera Jenkins said: “It’s been a very enjoyable evening for the whole community. I’d like to thank all of those who contributed to the Service and also donated a total of £200 towards my chosen charity Llamau.”
