Pictures from Caerphilly Medieval Fayre

Thousands of visitors flooded into Caerphilly town on the weekends for the Medieval Fayre.

More than 150 traders lined the streets and the walls of Caerphilly Castle as people soaked up the festive atmosphere. Caerphilly County Borough Council has reported the event attracted more than 10,000 visitors.

Cllr Ron Davies, cabinet member for regeneration and planning, said: “I am delighted that this festive programme of events have proven so popular once again this year. Events such as this, in addition to helping give traders a boost during this crucial trading period, really help put Caerphilly county borough on the map as a key tourist destination with something to offer all the family.”

The event was held in the town centre and Caerphilly Castle, with the main high street being closed to traffic.

Medieval beggars attempted to sneak a kiss from passers by, fire jugglers amazed the crowds and a roller skating robin may have whizzed past as visitors to the town soaked up the atmosphere.

Coaches from Gloucester, Pembrokeshire and Weston Super Mare visited the event.

Pictures from the event are below.
