Megaday 2010 this Bank Holiday weekend

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 09:14, Thursday August 26th, 2010.

Caerphilly is once again gearing up for the annual charity music festival Megaday, being held this Bank Holiday weekend at Virginia Park, Caerphilly town.

Now in its 16th year, organisers are hoping again to raise thousands of pounds for charity.

All proceeds from the two-day event, on Saturday August 28 and Sunday August 29, will go to Velindre Hospital.

Appearing at this year’s festival will be Mike Fantastic – the stars of this year’s Britain’s Got Talent TV show.

The band will be one of the headline acts on the Saturday night. The five-piece electro pop group will be interrupting recording they are currently doing in London to make the trip back especially to play at Megaday.

Other bands to grace the stage are perennial favourites Doc Savage and 4th Street Traffic.

The annual event is held in memory of local musicians Andrew Nicols and Paul Grahame who both lost their lives to cancer.

Megaday tickets cost £6 for the two nights or £5 with a flyer. Children under 12 can attend for free if accompanied by a paying adult.

The fundraising begins though on Friday night at Pulsars night club in, Pentrebane Street, Caerphilly town with a special Megaday dance event starting at 10pm.

Entry costs £7 with all proceeds going to Velindre. Last entry is 12.45am.
