Two brothers renowned for their abusive drunken behaviour have been been given Antisocial Behaviour Orders (ASBOs).

John Jones, 34, and Shane Jones, 23, both of Newport Road, Pontllanfraith, were given two year ASBOs by Caerphilly Magistrates after a series of antisocial incidents.

The Jones brothers displayed frequent abusive, threatening and aggressive behaviour, often under the influence of alcohol.

The pair were taken to court by the Safer Caerphilly Community Safety Partnership.

The Jones’ ASBOs ban the pair from the following in any part of Caerphilly County Borough.

  • Acting in a manner, which causes or is likely to cause nuisance, harassment, alarm or distress to any person.
  • Swearing at, shouting at or threatening any person.
  • Being drunk in any public place.
  • Damaging any property not belonging to them.
  • Carrying open containers of alcohol or consuming alcohol in any public place without an on licence.
  • Purchasing alcohol anywhere except licence premises.

Councillor Lyn Ackerman, the council’s cabinet member for the environment, which incorporates community safety, said: “I hope the gaining of these Antisocial Behaviour Orders will send out a strong message to the small minority who are intent on behaving anti-socially that their behaviour will not be tolerated.”

Crime and Disorder Reduction Officer PC Gareth Jones said: “We will not tolerate anti-social behaviour in our communities, and will continue to work with our partners to take action against individuals that are behaving in this way. This includes seeking Antisocial Behaviour Orders from the courts where appropriate.”

If either of the pair break the terms of their ASBO, they could face a prison sentence.

These have been a nightmare to Pontllanfraith for many years. An ASBO should have been issued on this pair years ago. The two of them should have been locked up for the torment they have given Pontllanfraith, But then with their upbringing, is it any surprise??
