Caerphilly’s Megaday almost here

Caerphilly is gearing up for this year’s Megaday, being held this Bank Holiday weekend at Virginia Park.

Now in its 15th year, organisers are hoping to break through the £200,000 barrier of the total money raised in the event’s history.

All proceeds from the two-day event, on Saturday and Sunday, will go to Velindre Hospital.

Newport rappers Goldie Lookin Chain are headlining this year’s music festival, which promises to be the best yet.

DJ P.Xain, aka Rhys from the GLC, said: “We are so excited like kids at Christmas ’cause we are involved in the Megaday this year.

“Caerphilly is our second favourite place in the northern hemisphere and we want everyone to come out to have a party with us and raise some money for Velindre Hospital Wales.

“It’s going to be the best thing since Terry Elephone invented the mobile telephone in 1980.”

The annual event is held in memory of local musicians Andrew Nicols and Paul Grahame who both lost their lives to cancer.

Founder of Megaday Steve Sullivan, MBE, said: “Megaday’s success has been a glowing reflection of the popularity of Andrew(Mega) and Paul (PG) over the years and has continued to get bigger and better each year. As it’s the 15th Anniversary this year, we wanted to do something special.”

  • Megaday tickets are available from The Moathouse Pub – Lon y Llyn, The Courthouse Pub – Cardiff Road, The Pontygwindy Pub – Pontygwindy Road and Premier Stores – Nantgarw Road.
