Seven lucky golf fans from Caerphilly County Borough will be watching the stars tee off at the Ryder Cup, being held this week at the Celtic Manor.

Residents within the area had a chance to enter a special competition to win tickets for this year’s big event by using a new digital TV and phone service that makes it easier to access council services.

‘Looking Local’ allows residents to use digital TV, internet, phone and even a Nintendo Wii to find out about council services, report issues and access key council information.

Hundreds of local people entered the competition and the seven lucky winners were invited to Penallta House council offices in Ystrad Mynach to collect their tickets from the leader of council Lindsay Whittle.

Cllr Whittle said: “Congratulations to all our winners and I hope they have a fantastic time at this prestigious event which promises to put Wales on the international sporting map.”

Looking Local is available through Sky, Virgin, and certain Freeview boxes.

To access the service on Sky TV press Interactive > DirectGov > Welcome > Local Services > Wales. Virgin users should press Interactive > News & Info > Looking Local > Wales,

To access the service on your mobile, Wii or PC visit www.lookinglocal.gov.uk/lookinglocal
