Investigations are still ongoing into the cause of a major fire which gutted a historic hotel.
The fire at the Old Mill Hotel, Station Road, Bargoed, happened during the early hours of Monday January 2.
The alarm was raised by neighbouring residents at 4am and fire crews from Cefn Fforest, Bargoed and Rhymney attended. The blaze was eventually put out by 9am. At the height of the fire, more than 30 firefighters were at the scene.
The heat from the hotel, which has been closed for about 18-months, was so intense, that residents were told to stay away from the front of their houses.
A spokesman for South Wales Fire Service said: “Unfortunately the cause of the fire is still undetermined and under continuing Investigation”
