A 12-year-old violinist has won Caerphilly’s Got Talent 2010.

The judges chose James Jones from Caerphilly after he wowed them with Frank Sinatra’s ‘My Way’ on the violin and claimed the title.

James won £500 worth of accommodation, theatre and shopping vouchers sponsored by Premier Inn, Corbetts Lane, Caerphilly.

Second prize went to 18-year-old singer Rachel Rajah from Penyrheol who performed her version of ‘Tell me its not True’ from musical Blood Brothers, a performance truly worthy of the west end. Rachel won a Family Membership to Cadw sites across Wales courtesy of Caerphilly Castle.

Third prize was won by eight-year-old dancer Casey Easley, from Pwll-y-Pant, who pirouetted around the stage to impress judge Matthew Howells who said that some adult dancers found it hard to perform ballet to the standard Casey displayed. Casey was presented with a digital camera donated by Tesco Caerphilly.

The judges, at Blackwood Miners’ Institute, were 2009 Britain’s Got Talent semi-finalist Jamie Pugh, BBC Radio Wales DJ Chris Needs, 4th Street Traffic’s Alastair Britton and Matthew Howells from Beyond Repair Dance.
