Stargazing event to be held in Deri

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 10:26, Monday January 16th, 2012.

The night sky above Deri, near Bargoed, will feature on national TV this week as part of the BBC’s ‘Stargazing Live’ series.

Co-produced by the Open University, the series returns on Monday for a second three-night run on BBC Two.

An exclusive BBC Stargazing Live event at Deri will be taking place tonight between 5.30pm and 9pm on.

Open to the public, the event will be located at two venues in Deri; the Primary School and the Community Centre where there will be an opportunity to learn more about our solar system in a planetarium.

People will also be able to gaze up at the night sky, weather permitting, with Dark Skies Wales.

  • Children in Deri Primary School, who have been learning about our solar system, will be launching rockets they have made at the school between 3pm and 4pm.
