Extension for Bedwas manufacturing firm

A manufacturing firm has announced plans to expand its operation.

Eriez Magnetics Europe Ltd, based in Bedwas, has bought a 19,000 square foot building next to its base.

Despite the current economic climate the company has continued to show growth with increased orders.

Paul Fears, managing director at Eriez Europe, said: “Despite the difficult economic climate, we have been able to continually increase our manufacturing output.

“To facilitate this growth, it was imperative that we expanded our facility. We have received fantastic support from our headquarters in Erie, USA [Eriez Manufacturing Co.] and this is a clear statement that competitive and successful manufacturing in the UK is a reality.”

This extra space will not only increase Eriez Europe’s manufacturing capacity, but will also allow for logistical improvements at the current site.

Eriez plan to begin manufacturing in the new building in April 2012 and it is hoped the expansion could create more jobs in the future.

Eriez Magnetics designs and manufactures magnetic equipment for use in industries such as recycling, mineral processing and mining.

No new jobs at the moment then, simply the purchase of an adjoining building to add to the assets of this foreign company.
