The invaluable work of volunteers across Caerphilly County Borough was celebrated earlier this week at the annual ‘One Beat’ event.

Held at Penallta House, Caerphilly County Borough Council’s headquarters, the event brought together representatives from a wide range of organisation serving the community.

Almost 80 different organisations came along to showcase their services, with special guest radio and television broadcaster Roy Noble.

Leader of Caerphilly Council Lindsay Whittle, said: “It was an absolute pleasure to have the opportunity to learn a little more about the commendable work voluntary sector organisations do so tirelessly in our communities at the One Beat event.

“This was by far the biggest and best One Beat event to date, and I am delighted that so many of our county borough’s residents came together with us to celebrate the work of such a vast network of volunteers – long may this magnificent event continue”.

The One Beat event also saw the official launch of the 2011 edition of the Caerphilly county borough Community Directory, which contains over 700 entries of useful contact details for local community groups.
