Safer Caerphilly Multi-Agency Centre grateful for cosmetic donations

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 17:08, Monday April 18th, 2011.

Staff at a centre supporting victims of domestic abuse have said they are “overwhelmed” after a cosmetics company donated gifts.

Workers from the Safer Caerphilly Multi-Agency Centre, in Ystrad Mynach, contacted cosmetics firm Lush for help.

They were delighted to receive boxes of free products, including bubble bath, shampoo and soaps from the company which will now be handed to people being helped by the service.

Andrea Davies, domestic abuse co-ordinator, said: “This was a really generous donation from Lush and has enabled us to provide some really lovely treats for a great number of people.

“A large number of the packs will benefit those who are currently being supported at refuges.

“Often when people arrive it will be in an emergency situation and they will have nothing but what they are wearing, so this small pack will make a huge difference and will help them feel that at least they have a little something of their very own to take care of basic needs in those first few days.

“We would like to say a massive thanks to Lush for their kindness- even a simple gift like this can make a really big difference.”

Cllr Judith Pritchard, cabinet member for social services added: “This wonderful donation I am sure will make real positive difference to those seeking help for issues surrounding domestic abuse.

“I also really cannot stress enough how much of a positive difference the Safer Caerphilly MAC and associated services has made to victims of domestic abuse and their families.”
