Cwmfelinfach car crash victim named – family pay tribute

Joanne Louise Jones, from Aberbargoed, who was killed in a car crash in Cwmfelinfach on Friday February 10

The victim of a car crash in Cwmfelinfach on Friday has been named by police.

Joanne Louise Jones, 23, suffered head injuries when the Peugeot she was driving hit a lamp post on New Road at 11pm on February 10.

Miss Jones, from the Aberbargoed area, was taken to the Royal Gwent Hospital in Newport but was pronounced dead on Saturday.

A male passenger travelling with Miss Jones suffered minor injuries and has been released from hospital.

The family of Miss Jones, who was known as Joe, have released the following statement paying tribute to her.

“Beloved daughter of Jeanette and Wayne, sister of Scott and Jenna, Aunty to Iestyn and girlfriend to Kai who made her the happiest girl in the world, who sadly passed away on Saturday February 11 2012.

“Joe attended Aberbargoed Junior School and Bedwellty Comprehensive School where she was a member of the school choir and netball team.

“Joe always had time for family and friends and was always there to help in any way she could. The family would like to thank all the family and friends, especially Joe’s friends, for all their messages and support at this sad time.

“Rest in peace our beautiful angel.”

Witnesses to the crash can contact Gwent Police on 101.
