Nominate a community project for help from Swalec

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 10:37, Tuesday February 14th, 2012.

Energy firm Swalec is looking for community projects in Caerphilly County Borough for its staff to volunteer with.

Local schools, community groups, charities and organisations can apply for Swalec’s ranging from providing volunteers for one day to one month.

Community projects could include anything from clearing an overgrown school garden to cleaning rubbish from a community pond, or simply crushing old boxes to crunching numbers on a club’s behalf.

More than 2,000 Swalec workers are being given the day off to put real energy into the area where they live or work thanks to the company’s Community at Heart scheme which aims to offer support to local groups and organisations.

Gareth Wood, Swalec’s head of customer service, said: “We are keen to offer our support to the environmental and social projects that are happening on our doorstep, taking on challenges from gardening and clean up operations to more strategic tasks.

“The Community at Hearty scheme provides an opportunity for our staff to actively make a positive difference to the worthwhile projects they are passionate about. Our team are a pretty talented bunch and have the skills to help with most tasks, so please let us know if you have a project at heart and we would love to try and give you a hand with it.”
