The restoration efforts at Newbridge Memo will feature on a BBC2 programme tonight.
The Memo will appear on Britain’s Heritage Heroes at 6.30pm, Friday.
Presenters John Craven and Jules Hudson spoke to those behind the restoration efforts in the tenth episode of the 15 part series.
Howard Stone, chair of the Memo Trustees and Volunteers features in the programme.
He said: “John Craven and Jules Hudson were genuinely excited by the restoration story behind the Memo and have asked to be kept informed of progress and a chance to attend the grand opening events we are already planning for 2014.
“It is incredible how the Memo story is continuing to catch the imagination of people around the UK”.
Cllr Ron Davies, cabinet member for regeneration at Caerphilly County Borough Council said: “We are delighted to be working closely with the Trustees to bring about the long-awaited regeneration of the building, and we now look forward to seeing the progress as this historic venue is restored to its former glory.”
The Newbridge Memorial Hall was built to commemorate locals who fell in the First World War and is fondly nicknamed “The Memo”.
By 2003 the building was in a state of dilapidation but through the determination of local campaigners after eight years, £6 million has now been secured to bring the project back to life.
Work has already commenced on the buildings through the financial support of the European Regional Development Fund through the Welsh Government as well as CADW, Heritage and Big Lottery Funding.
