Pupils from Trinant Primary School with Islwyn MP Chris Evans

Pupils at Trinant Primary School were joined by Islwyn MP Chris Evans as they geared up for the Paralympics by giving a demonstration of the sports that will be played at this summer’s games.

After saving up Sainsbury’s Active Kids vouchers, pupils at the school have exchanged them for Paralympic kit and equipment including bikes and scooters.

The vouchers are designed to encourage young people of all abilities to experience Paralympic sport in the run up to this year’s Olympics.

Mr Evans said: “It is great to see schools in our area getting into the Olympic spirit.

“Experiencing Paralympic sport is a great experience for the pupils and helps keep them fit and healthy.

“Who knows, maybe some of them will be our Olympians of the future.”

Schools that have not yet registered but want to take part can contact the Sainsbury’s Active Kids helpline on 0844 415 8440.
