A public meeting has been called to discuss the future of the ancient monument of Twmbarlwm.
The meeting has been called by conservation group Cymdeithas Twmbarlwm Society and will take place on Wednesday February 22 at Cross Keys RFC.
The society has said that erosion and illegal off-roading present a threat to the monument. Planned maintenance works and a new car park nearby are also a worry to it.
This public meeting seeks to address the issue of protecting and conserving the landscape heritage on Twmbarlwm and Mynydd Maen.
There will be presentations by representatives of the local authorities followed by a panel discussion and a question and answer session. The meeting will seek to raise awareness about the issues concerning Twmbarlwm and outline strategies being developed to address the immediate problem of protecting our most cherished and historically important upland areas for future generations.
Rob Southall, the society’s founder and current secretary said that “Our landscape and history are under threat. We must address this issue now as it may be our last chance to protect a national treasure before it is lost forever.”
The evening will be presented in conjunction with Caerphilly County Borough Council, Torfaen County Borough Council, Heddlu Gwent Police and the Ancient Cwmbran Society
Doors open at 7pm with the meeting due to start at 7.30pm. The meeting will take place at Cross Keys RFC, Pandy Park, Crosskeys.
Will it be a summit meeting?
