Children and youngsters have been taking part in a graffiti workshop at a family project in Caerphilly town.
Nine youngsters aged between nine and 14 attended the fun workshop at Action for Children’s Caerphilly Family Intervention project on February 16.
The aim of the workshop – in which graffiti was sprayed onto panels of chipboard – was to find out youngsters’ views on participating with the project.
Children and young people in 30 Action for Children projects across the UK are taking part in arts workshops on participation run through Action for Children’s arts initiative – Arts Bank.
The initiative will see children and young people from various backgrounds such as young carers, children in care and disabled young people taking part in activities and events to express themselves on the topic.
Workshops based around animations, music videos and documentaries are just a few of the creative activities that children and young people across the country will have the opportunity to access.
Mel Senior, Project Worker at Action for Children’s Caerphilly Family Intervention project, said: “The workshop was a great way to consult children and young people on things that affect them at school and in the community and also influence future strategies. It was a fantastic day, the finished art work looked amazing and we didn’t get too messy.”
Paul Mitchell, Arts Initiatives Manager at Action for Children said: “Young people have a lot of opinions about issues concerning them but don’t always wish to express these verbally. Arts Bank is an effective way of engaging with them and giving them an opportunity to share their opinions in a variety of creative ways. Each year, the young people surprise us with brilliant work that gives a great insight into their lives and experiences.”
