Two Caerphilly men arrested after aerial and Sky cable thefts

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 12:47, Friday March 2nd, 2012.

Two men have been arrested and charged in connection with a spate of aerial cable theft from people’s homes.

Last month Gwent Police reported that ten properties in Caerphilly and Bedwas had been targeted with aerial and Sky TV cable stolen.

Properties in Castle Park, Dol Y Felin and Pontygwindy Road had their cables cut and stolen.

A 20-year-old man from Caerphilly has been charged with going equipped for theft and theft, and a 22-year-old man, also from Caerphilly, has been charged with going equipped for theft and for handling stolen goods.

They have both been bailed to appear at Caerphilly Magistrates’ Court on March 8.

At the time of the original police appeal for information, PC Stuart Lewis, crime and disorder reduction officer for Bedwas and Caerphilly, said: “With the recent increase in the price of copper it appears criminals are cutting these cables in order to steal the metal inside.”
