Markham Primary School pupils put on show with police help

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 09:00, Wednesday December 8th, 2010.

Children from Markham Primary School will be putting on a Christmas production this evening with help from Gwent Police.

The children are hosting the show as part of the Young Promoters scheme, run by the Arts Council of Wales with Gwent Police. The project is aimed to build better relationships between children and police officers.

Over the last month the group of 18 young children, aged between nine and ten, have been attending weekly after school workshops to put in place preparations to host the show as well as learn new skills along the way, including approaching local companies for sponsorship, inviting VIPs, marketing and selling tickets.

Tickets cost £3 for children and £4 for adults – Tickets can be purchased in advanced at Markham Primary School.

Doors open from 6pm – show starts at 6.30pm.

For more information, please contact Senior Area Officer, Special Constable Christine Smith on: 07855 539250.
