European teachers welcomed at Cwmfelinfach Primary School

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 16:00, Wednesday March 7th, 2012.

Teachers from Denmark, Germany, Sweden and Guadeloupe recently visited Cwmfelinfach Primary School as part of an European environmental programme.

The teachers, joined by Islwyn MP Chris Evans, helped plant a tree in the grounds of the school.

Pupils are currently taking part in a European wide schools project to tackle environmental issues and, after recently planting a tree in Stockholm, will travel to Denmark in May before heading to Germany and Guadeloupe later this year.

Mr Evans said: “I was delighted to join the pupils taking part in this project and welcoming our visitors from Europe.

“The enthusiasm of the pupils was there for all to see and it was a hugely enjoyable morning. I know they cannot wait to travel to Denmark in May to do their bit for the environment over there.

“It was also a fantastic way to learn about environmental issues and by planting trees they have ensured that the lessons they learn will never be forgotten.”
