An Abertridwr couple have had a dream £20,000 wedding – thanks to Facebook.

Emma Collins, 31, and Shaun Parsons, 38, had been engaged for 14 years but could not afford to get hitched.

The couple entered a radio competition for a free wedding earlier this but missed out.

Friend Jenee Gatehouse set up a Facebook group to appeal for help and other friends quickly chipped in with donations ranging from rings to the wedding cake.

The happy couple, who are parents to 13-year-old twins McCaulley and Paige and 10-year-old Chloe, tied the not on Saturday.

Donations flooded in on Facebook including the offer of regency building Llancayo House near Usk, Monmouthshire as a reception venue.

Speaking ITV1’s Daybreak on Monday, Emma said: “I’ve always wanted the big dream wedding, a Christmas wedding, a big dress. It was perfect.”

Watch the couple’s appearance on Daybreak.
