An Abercarn company’s products will be on show to the glamorous world of Formula 1 racing at the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne this Sunday.

Dischromatics Ltd were contacted at short notice to produce an urgent order of CDs for the Lotus F1 team to hand out to VIP guests at the season opener.

The firm was contacted last week by New York’s MBM Records, who were producing the CD on behalf of the F1 team.

Gareth Spencer, managing director of Dischromatics Ltd, said: “The nature of the order only fully came to light when the artwork arrived with the Lotus F1 logo on the cover and a track listing of artists such as Muse, The Killers and Kings of Leon.

“The deadline was also extremely tight. We knew that the Lotus team were leaving their Enstone base on Friday and needed to take the CDs with them.

“We are used to turning things around quickly, but in this case, the staff really had to pull together to make it work. When I’m watching the Grand Prix on Sunday, it will be nice to know that there is a little bit of Abercarn helping to make up the F1 jigsaw.”

Problems with the design meant that staff had to work around the clock to make sure the F1 team took the CDs with them on Friday last week.

Dischromatics Print Manager, Kayle Garkut said: “We always strive to do our best for our clients and it is an honour to be involved in such a prestigious project. For the whole of Friday, staff worked tirelessly to assemble and complete the order, culminating in delivery in Oxfordshire at 8.30pm.”

MBM’s Label Manager Mary Konate considered cancelling the order at one point because of the tight deadline, but Dischromatics pulled through.

Ms Konate praised the company in an email and told the firm: “I like dealing with smaller companies and you guys rock!”

Discussions have already begun about more work between the two companies in the near future with more possible productions next month.
