Families encouraged to eat healthier with NHS course

Children in Caerphilly County Borough who struggle with weight problems can learn how to live a healthier lifestyle on the F3 (Fun, Food and Fitness) 10-week course.

The free NHS course, funded by the Big Lottery Fund, involves one session each week to inspire families to take more exercise and to prepare and eat healthier meals.

The course will also help families shop for healthy foods on a budget.

The next two F3 programmes will start in January 2011 and will be held in Bedwas and Pontllanfraith.

Caerphilly AM Jeff Cuthbert has welcomed the scheme.

He said: “As chair of the National Assembly for Wales’ Cross-Party Group on Healthy Living, I particularly welcome this new initiative.

“There’s no time like the New Year as a kick-start toward a healthier lifestyle – the benefits in terms of personal well-being and finances are well-documented.”

To join the F3 programme or to find out more, call Sue Norey on 01495 241292 or email susan.norey@wales.nhs.uk
