Caerphilly Council agrees £200,000 funding for new health centre

The development of a new health centre in the north of Caerphilly County Borough took a major step forward on Tuesday.

Caerphilly Council’s cabinet agreed to pledge £200,000 to help ensure the project remains on track.

The Integrated Health and Social Care Resource Centre is due to open in the Rhymney area at the same time as the new hospital Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr in 2012.

The centre will bring together a range of health and social care services under one roof for residents.

Services will include:

  • GP Practices
  • Intermediate and Palliative Care Beds
  • District Nursing Service
  • Older People’s Assessment Team
  • Children’s Services Team
  • Therapy Services such as Podiatry
