Caerphilly County Borough Council has been awarded a prestigious national award for its plastics recycling.

Recoup (RECycling Of Used Plastics Limited) recently undertook a survey into how councils across the UK are recycling plastic packaging.

Caerphilly County Borough Council was recognised as having the best performing collection scheme in Wales based on total tonnage collected via the kerbside and average tonnage per household, and was honoured with a Household Plastics Packaging Collection Award.

Cllr Lyn Ackerman, cabinet member for public services and housing said: “I am delighted that our residents recycling efforts have helped contribute to Caerphilly County Borough receiving such a prestigious national award.

“Our weekly kerbside recycling collections have been very well received by residents across the county borough, and it is excellent to see that we continue to be one of the best performing local authorities in Wales for recycling.”

Recoup (RECycling Of Used Plastics Limited) is a leading authority on plastics packaging waste management, providing expertise and guidance to a wide range of clients across the plastics supply, use and disposal chain.
