More than £600 has been raised in the first step of a Wales-wide charity fundraising drive to raise £1 million.
Jamie Pritchard and Louise Kirton hope to raise the cash for charities Ty Hafan, The Prince’s Trust, Four Paws Animal Rescue and Autism Cymru.
The pair, who are currently out of work, have decided to put their time to good use and are calling their fundraising drive ‘Speak to a Million Raise a Million’ – or Stamtram for short.
Their first event was at Virginia Park Golf Club on March 24 where they raised £659.15 (after expenses).
Jamie said: “We packed the venue out with guests, singers and dancers and everybody had a great time. This was our first step on the road to raising the million pounds and we are relying on generous members of the public to donate to our cause to ensure our chosen charities have the means necessary to continue their fantastic work.
“Our official launch at the Senedd will be on the April 23 and we’re hoping for a good turnout of leading figures and members of the public.
“We are finalising the date for our first walk through Caerphilly and we’re hoping to do this on the April 28 so keep a look out for the Stamtram duo. The Stamtram bandwagon is rolling and nothing is going to stop us reaching out goal.”
